Worked across multiple departments to solve the challenges of integrated intelligent sensors and systems within linear architectural luminaires. Provided a thoughtful resource to help customers navigate the myriad of intelligent and connected lighting technologies, to deliver the specifier's controls intent and project objectives.
Spearheaded Voice of the Customer initiatives to capture customer insights across the value chain. Developed customer-driven Market Requirements and Product Specifications. Used VOC and subject matter expertise for development of differentiated features — in consideration of firmware, software, user interfaces, within given system architecture.
Conceptualized, resourced, specified, and managed the development effort to commercialize and launch a first of its kind wireless, luminaire-integrated sensing, plug-n-play application solution for open plan offices. Secured and executed GSA Green Proving Ground demonstration resulting in measured 75% savings, to leverage new utility incentive programs.
Created first ever interactive webtool offering integrated best practices applications and controls solutions, paired with real time energy savings estimates against user chosen baseline in both Lighting Power Density (LPD) and kWh. Stakeholders included lighting industry, energy and utility industry, and policy representatives. (*Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, for the US Department of Energy)
Led a team to develop the relighting guidelines and specifications for the 2009 Recovery Act projects, based upon USDOE Commercial Lighting Solutions best practices. Specs were used to guide lighting projects within the $4.5B GSA budget allocation. (*Work performed at PNNL and funded by US General Services Administration)
Founded and managed the public-private Light Right Consortium with world class research team to study the impact of lighting on office worker productivity. Project decisively proved positive impacts on workers using direct/indirect lighting with digital integrated sensors and workstation-specific personal control. (Phases I & II at PNNL for the USDOE, with multiple sponsorship and researchers. Phase III funding and execution by National Research Council of Canada.)
